Cobymeppo’s Proving Ground!
It’s CobyMeppo’s Proving Ground! Have you taken on the challenge?
This time we’ll battle our way through the challenges of the Proving Ground at it’s highest level, Test of Skill – Master.
One formidible foe after another!
You’re going to be facing Helmeppo and Coby one after another in this fight, plus both of them have gotten a lot stronger since their special training with Garp, so you’ll need to use some caution.
Most of the cannon fodder we’ll be facing today is going to be PSY type characters, and the Boss, Coby is PSY type as well, so we figured we ought to try to beat this one with an INT focused team. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but we had a lot of trouble with INT-type Helmeppo, the last fight before the boss.
Right afterwards, we faced the Boss, Coby. He powered up, hitting us with powerful attacks every couple of turns, and we just couldn’t withstand his Special…
We’d hit Helmeppo with everything we had and were all out of options when it came to facing Coby. …But on the next run, when we tried to conserve our Specials throughout the fight with Helmeppo, he hit us for a lot of damage, and Coby had no trouble finishing us off.
It was then that we decided to focus on just avoiding damage from Helmeppo, and finding a way to keep Coby from hitting us before we could take care of him! That was the plan, anyway. And with that in mind, we set out to rework our crew!
Our Captain is Nami Happiness Punch, who is also filling in for Friend Captain. Making Merry Go our ship boosts our ATK even higher.
Next, we need a few INT types with high ATK, but we also want to include characters with good stats and Specials in general, so including Nico Robin is a must. Her Special, Cien Fleur will double INT characters’ ATK for one turn, giving us a chance to do some real damage against Coby.
We also want someone who can delay our enemies for us, but this time instead of Usopp, we’re going to choose Mr. 3 Extra Special Candelabra.
To the Proving Ground!
As we work our way towards Helmeppo and Coby, we’ll encounter a lot of enemies with high ATK. If we let ourselves get hit, things will get a lot harder later.
Helmeppo makes his appearance.
We’re going to keep our Specials in reserve and just hit him as hard as we can! Just keep hitting him! We need to save everything for Coby even if it means Helmeppo beats us to within an inch of our lives!
We’ve defeated Helmeppo at last! And we managed to charge everyone’s Special in the process!
Now it’s on to the climactic showdown with Coby!
It’s impossible to predict whether Coby will start off by attacking or powering up. If your health is on the low side, go ahead and let Mr.3 Extra Special Candelabra lead. We were fortunate and got plenty of opportunities to recover HP during hte battle with Helmeppo, so we went ahead and started out with a round of normal attacks.
Whatever he starts out with, Coby will settle into a pattern of alternately powering up and attacking, so as long as your health is still okay after his first attack you can go ahead and focus on hitting him back. He’ll spend his next turn powering up, so use that chance to get another round of attacks in! After powering up he’s going to hit us for some pretty high damage, so we’re going to go ahead and use Extra Special Candelabra and finish him off in one go!
It might be difficult finding a good time to use Nami Happiness Punch or Buggy the Clown’s slot shuffling Specials, depending on the state of your own slots, but we’re trying to wrap this us as quickly as we can, so even if you only have one RCV or PSY slot active, just go ahead and use them.
Then it’s to use the most crucial Special of all, Nico Robin’s Special, Cein Fleur!
With our ATK boosted to the utmost, we’re able to send Coby flying!
We beat the highest difficulty, and we got pretty lucky with drops! Manuals, turtles, and both Helmeppo and Coby Recruited for our crew!
And we got a new title, Faith!
There are plenty of different crews that are capeable of taking on the Proving Ground, so try out your own strategies!
