Racking up chains is the key to defeating powerful enemies.

You just need to aim for the moment your crew member’s attack lands to tap the next character. However, different character classes such as Slasher, Striker and Shooter all have unique attack styles and frequencies that you need to keep in mind.

Practice until you perfect your timing.

It’ll be tougher lining up attack chains with characters new to your crew or Friend Captains you aren’t used to fighting with, so try having them attack first until you get the hang of their timing.

GOOD ⇒ GREAT ⇒ PERFECT

There are three separate categories of timing for attack chains, which determine how powerful the attack will be.

As long as the chain continues unbroken, the boost in attack power will continue to build as well, so that the final character in the chain receives the biggest attack bonus.

Finish off your attack chain by tapping ‘Doom!’ to deliver the finishing blow!

MISS

Chain failed. Attack bonuses will be interrupted.

GOOD

Successfully chained an attack.

GREAT

Successfully chained an attack. A 1.1x attack bonus is applied.

PERFECT

Successfully chained an attack. A 1.3x attack bonus is applied.

It can be hard to get a hang of the tap timing for characters with slow tap attacks or a long power-up such as the 4* character, Enraged Arlong.

Such characters often have higher attack power, so in order to maximize the damage you deal, having them attack at the end of the chain can be more important than perfect timing while you’re building the chain.

Let characters with [RCV] slots go early in the chain.

Go ahead and grab the meat first.

Go ahead and grab the meat first.

In order to pick up the meat, you’ve got to get a ‘GREAT’ or lesser chain, while making sure there are still characters who haven’t attacked yet.

You won’t be able to utilize this slot at the end of your attack order, so try to recover health early on in your chains.
