Rising Sun, Rising Fortunes!

A spectacular event has come to Extra Island: Rising Sun, Rising Fortunes! The Straw-Hat Pirates are out in grand style, but will you have what it takes to defeat them?

Today we’re bringing you a strategy to defeat the toughest difficulty, Refined.

Look who’s here…

Wasn't expecting to see you here...

Wasn’t expecting to see you here…

You’ll be facing seven battles, and meeting some old friends along the way. Characters will appear randomly, different ones appearing even in the same battle. If you haven’t managed to Recruit one of them yet, this might be just the chance you need!

Meet the Bosses

This time we’ll be up against Luffy and Zoro as the quest’s boss and sub-boss, with Nami as a hidden Rare boss. On Expert, Roronoa Zoro Three Thousand Worlds: The Final Stroke will make his appearance, and you’ll go up against Monkey D. Luffy Gum-Gum Bazooka: Supremacy in the final battle.

Once Zoro’s HP gets knocked down to 50%, he’ll use Three Thousand Worlds: The Final Stroke to deal massive damage to your crew. Luffy will attack every turn, and increase his ATK buff every time he does so, up to a maximum 1.5x ATK. Worse, when you get him down to low HP, he’ll heal himself.

If we go into this one without a plan, it’s almost certain to end in total disaster.

Nami Mirage Tempo: The Heavens

Nami Mirage Tempo: The Heavens

Nami Mirage Tempo: The Heavens will appear very rarely, at random. If you want to Recruit her, there’s pretty much no choice but to face Rising Sun as many times as it takes!

Putting together a crew to win against these odds

Luffy and Zoro are going to appear back to back, so we’ll need a pretty tough crew to make it through to Victory with some of our HP intact, and we think we’ve got just the lineup!!

Our Shooter-Class Crew.

Our Shooter-Class Crew.

This time, both our Captain and Friend Captain will be Absalom of the Graveyard. Absalom’s Captain Ability will allow us to quadruple the ATK power of our crew, and his Special, Clear-Clear Fruit will cut the damage we take in half while doubling our RCV for two whole turns. With that, we ought to be able to stand against Luffy’s constant attacks.

Next, to deal with the massive damage dealt by Zoro’s Special, we’ve got Ghost Princess Perona and her Special, Negative Hollow. Sogeking is along, too, and we plan to use his Special to prevent Luffy from healing himself when his HP gets low enough.

One of the advantages of a crew based on a Class rather than a type, is that we have a lot more freedom with getting slots of the right type. Dismantler Franky will allow us to make full advantage of this with a Special that lets us swap slots freely two times, putting the right Type slots right where they need to be.

Last but not least, we’ve got Lulu and his Special, Red Hot Shipwright’s Soul, which will allow us to to change [TND] slots to [RCV] or [QCK].

A Rising Sun lifts all Fortunes!

As you fight your way to the boss, focus on charging your Specials and setting aside enough meat to keep yourself healed. The characters who you meet along your way are going to change at random, so luck does have something to do with it, but just keep fighting your way through. Don’t be afraid to take a hit or two from the weaker enemies if it means you give yourself time to charge your Specials.

Do what you have to to get your Specials Ready!

In the fifth battle, Six-Sword Hachi will appear. If you let him use his Special, New Years Open Body Slam, it’s going to deal you a whole lot of damage! Well, that’s what we thought would happen, but actually he just scrambles your slots to a mix of [RCV] and [TND]. You’ll probably want to go after him first when you see him, but just defeat the guys around him and let him give you a few extra servings of meat for the road!

Zoro and Luffy, back to back.

At long last we’ve come to our final challenge. Or, final challenges, as the case would be. By this point you should be within two turns from being able to use Perona’s Special.

Make sure you're no more than two turns away...

Make sure you’re no more than two turns away…

Protect yourself from Zoro’s first attack with Perona’s Negative Hollow. If you can finish the rest of the fight off within three turns, then the fight with Luffy right after this one will be that much easier.

Very regrettably for us, however, we accidentally left Zoro standing with just a little bit of HP! He hits us with Three Thousand Worlds: The Final Stroke, dealing 7,500 damage and Binding the back row of our crew! Much less regrettably, we had the foresight to use Absalom’s Clear-Clear Fruit beforehand to cut the damage. Unfortunately, we couldn’t avoid the bind, but with our remaining three crew members, we still managed to heal ourselves a bit and deal the Final Stroke, as it were, to Zoro!

Next it’s time for the decisive battle against Luffy! If you go into this battle with low HP, be sure to use your second Absalom’s special right away. Luffy will attack every turn, and if you don’t have some kind of defense up this will be a very short battle.

The battle to decide it all!

The battle to decide it all!

We don’t have many fancy tricks for this battle, just make your Chains and pick the best timing to use Franky’s Franky Centaur and Lulu’s Red Hot Shipwright’s Soul to increase the damage you deal as much as possible!

Use Franky to position your slots for best advantage.

Right when Luffy is almost down to low HP, or right before your crew is down to it’s own last legs, use Sogeking’s Firebird Star and buy yourself the time you’ll need. We just needed a few more good attack rounds, and victory was within our grasp!!

We managed to Recruit Monkey D. Luffy Gum-Gum Bazooka: Supremacy! Plus, we got a new title, Refined!

There are many other crews you could use to clear this quest! If you’re thinking of putting together a Type based crew, we recommend a STR crew, which would have an advantage against Zoro without giving you a disadvantage against Luffy. Try a few options and see which crew works best for you!
