Slot Restricted Quest

Slot Restricted Quest

Slot Restricted Quest

The slots that will appear this time are limited to only [STR], [DEX], [QCK], [PSY], and [INT]. We may have seen similar quest conditions like this one before, but this time there wont be any trace of [RCV] whatsoever. That means that Captains with HP replenish effects are a must! We came, we saw, we lost, lost again, and then….

Rare-Boss Choo splashes in!

Rare-Boss Choo splashes in!

Rare-Boss Choo splashes in!

Somewhere between Battle 1 and Battle 5, you may just get a visit from the young Choo. At the end of his first turn, he’ll Bind your Captain and Helper Captain’s Captain Abilities as well as replenish a great deal of his HP by using his Smeck! ability. Then he’ll hit you with normal attacks, so not much to worry about here. Unless you want to recruit him, well, he’s kinda just annoying.

Poisoned from the start!

You thought your skills would be put to test with just no [RCV] slots? Right as the battle starts, we hear, “D-Don’t think badly of me for this!” and are hit with Poison, which really takes a toll on us for a while. We’ll never forgive you for this!!

Battle 1

Battle 1

In Battle 6, we meet the young Kuroobi as a sub-boss. At the end of his first turn, he’ll shuffle your slots to [STR], [DEX], [QCK], [PSY], or [INT] and use his Dueling Hair Tether, locking your slots for the span of one turn. We’ll be barraged by attacks by all enemies on the second turn, so if you don’t have a way to reduce damage here you might as well throw in the towel now.

The Sub-Boss Kuroobi

Our STR Boss, Arlong

In the same fashion as Choo and Kuroobi, Arlong will be ready and waiting in Battle 7. Arlong starts off with a pre-emptive Immunity as well as an attack, so you better be ready to counter with some deadly punches if you seek to win this bout.

Battle 7

Battle 7

We used all the Specials we could and attacked with all our might but it just wasn’t enough. Arlong’s Tooth Attack, on top of dealing a whopping 20,000 damage, one of our crew members hit with Bind for five turns. In the end we raised the white flag of defeat.

The life-threatening Tooth Attack!

The life-threatening Tooth Attack!

After much trial and error, we finally noticed something. If Arlong has over half his HP, he’ll attack you and deal over 8000 damage. But if you get him down below half his HP, he’ll stop attacking and use an ability that ups his STR. If we can stall him for a couple turns, we just may be able to turn this battle!

The crew that will lead us to victory!

Here they are folks. The champs of the sea!

The champs of the sea!

The champs of the sea!

We chose Rob Lucci as our Captain and got the help of Eneru, Lightning Incarnate 200,000,000 Volt Amaru as our Helper Captain since he was available. Put the effect of both Captains together and get a lovely 4.5x to [QCK] characters’ ATK.

Eneru’s healing effect and Special will also do wonders in helping us defeat Arlong. But what’s really going to win you this battle is the synergy between Camie Takoyaki Shop Clerk, Kaku Dock One Carpentry Specialist and Blue Striker Elite Skypiea Enforcer. You’ll have to watch your timing, but if you prepare all slots to [QCK], the boost from Mountain Wind will allow your crew to dish out some pretty big damage. For times when your HP isn’t up to par, we added Humming Swordsman Brook.

Save your Specials for the boss!

Sure, the poison has us hurting quite a bit, but the healing from Eneru’s Captain Ability is keeping us in the game!

Poisoned, but oh well!

Poisoned, but oh well!

Fortunately for us, we’re going to run into a bunch of turtles between Battles 2 and 5, so if we don’t waste any turns preparing for the final showdown, we should be able charge our Specials enough to use them when we get to the Boss. Lets get Kaku and Brook on those turtles since they have low attack combos.

Don't get attacked by anything besides the turtles!

Don’t get attacked by anything besides the turtles!

Once we get to Battle 6, let’s activate Camie’s Mermaid’s Guiding Voice as fast as we can. This will raise [QCK] and [PSY] slot rates and give QCK and PSY characters 1.2x ATK power.

Watch your timing!

Watch your timing!

…that’s what we’d like to say, but our slots will be locked because of the effects from Kuroobi’s Dueling Hair Tether, and we won’t be able to get any benefit from Camie’s Special if we use it right away. Fortunately, that shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

Our main goal in using Mermaid’s Guiding Voice is to get those [QCK] and [PSY] slots lined up for Arlong’s battle. So keep an eye out for the moment when the effect runs out and then move on from Battle 6. By the time Mermaid’s Guiding Voice wears off, you should have been able to get a good slate of slots together to get the maximum effect from Eneru’s 200,000,000 Volt Amaru in Battle 7.

Don't let Kuroobi get the best of you!

Don’t let Kuroobi get the best of you!

If you end up getting hit by a coordinated enemy attack on the second turn, even if you don’t manage to defeat Kuroobi, with this crew you should be able to squeak by as long as you went into the battle with full HP. If things aren’t looking good, best to use Brook’s Special here.

It’s finally time to get back at Arlong!

Revenge!!

Revenge!!

We’ve finally reached Arlong. Let’s first do a full on attack and get Arlong’s health below half. All that is left to do now is to activate Eneru’s 200,000,000 Volt Amaru and do massive QCK damage!

All that's left is to attack!

All that’s left is to attack!

He ended up having more HP than we thought, but with Lucci’s Special, we should be able to finish this now.

We've got him cornered!

We’ve blasted this shark out of the water!!

Anyone for sushi?

We Recruited Arlong and got proof of our victory, the Kiribachi Title.

Victory!!

Victory!!

You can try other crew members besides these and still win. If you can get Eneru, Lightning Incarnate 200,000,000 Volt Amaru on your crew, It will really help with the fight against the poison. If you can get Thatch through Rare-Recruit and one more powerful QCK character, you can swap them in for Camie Takoyaki Shop Clerk and Blue Striker Elite Skypiea Enforcer. By doing that, you’ll have more freedom during the Arlong battle. Play around with different crew combinations and see what works best for you!
