Wanze’s Ramen Kung Fu! Tough

Wanze’s Ramen Kung Fu! has come to Extra Island! Has everyone given it a shot yet? Today, we are bringing you the guide for this quest’s highest difficulty: Wanze’s Ramen Kung Fu! Tough

3-Type Restricted Quest: Part 2!

3 Types Only!

3 Types Only!

So it seems that this Seatrain only allows certain types to board as well. Like last time, we made sure to build a balanced crew to work around this restriction and set off. All aboard!

Mid-Boss Nero and Rare-Boss Wanze

Nero, master of the “Four Powers,” is the mid-boss for this quest and will appear in one of these battles in most cases. Wanze, master of “Ramen Kung Fu,” may appear instead as a rare-boss.

Well if it isn't Wanze!

Well if it isn’t Wanze!

If Wanze appears, he won’t fight us yet. He blabs a few words and runs off, leaving an assortment of crabs who may or may not drop some yummy Cotton Candy. You may also see Emerald Jeweled Porcs here, who are loaded with EXP! In that case, Wanze might even leave you his Wanted Poster! Whichever the situation, just consider yourself lucky!

Like winning the lottery...

If Nero appears, he’ll hit us with a pre-emptive slot-rate down, lowering the rate of either [STR] [DEX] or [QCK] slots randomly. You don’t want him to touch your [STR] slots because if he does, the Boss battle ahead is going to be a rough one!

Nero strikes first!

Nero strikes first!

By the way, Nero will use his Tempest Kick Line when on the brink of death, hitting you with 3330 damage and binding your front row for one turn. The Majors in Battle 6 not only have high defense, they’ll also bind the types they’re weak against for two turns. Let’s not let that happen and take them out before they attack!

Watch out for the Majors!

Boss Battle: Ra-Men’s Formal Suit Wanze

Wanze’s pre-emptive Ra-Men’s Formal Suit! boosts both his ATK and DEF for 5 turns. Simple attacks won’t do much here, so it’s better to hit as many Perfects you can and lower his HP little by little.

Battle 7

Battle 7

We halved his attack damage with Iron Guard, but even with that he still hit us with 3600 damage. Just got to wait for the effect of his Ra-Men’s Formal Suit! to wear off then let loose and take the win!

Unleash the Specials!

Unleash the Specials!

We got Wanze’s HP pretty low and things were looking good, but then he counter-attacked with Ramen Kung Fu Secret Attack: Poison Pasta Cutter!!, poisoning us and dealing 4444 damage! As if that wasn’t enough, he cut-in and used his infamous Ramen Beam, binding both our captains and basically pinning us down so that he could take the win.

We'll just get off at the next stops, thanks.

We’ll just get off at the next stops, thanks.

With our last breath we managed to replenish a bit of HP and throw all we could at Wanze, but with the Poison that was hitting each crew member with 400 damage combined with Wanze’s coup de grâce, our train ride came to an end.

That Poison got us good!

Slot Master Crew

Let’s take a look at the crew we made to blast that weirdo cook out of the kitchen!

Slot Master Crew

Slot Master Crew

We chose the pumpkin juice lovin’ Ganfor Sky Knight as our Captain and who else would play the role of Friend Captain as well as Captain Kid? As long as we keep our HP above half with this pair, Strikers can get a whopping 6.25x boost to ATK! Kid’s Steel Magnetic Arm matches his own slot and Ganfor’s Sky Knight Javelin boosts ATK for upper-row characters by 1.5x, so expect to do some major butt-whooping! Kraken Monster of the North, who can change all slots to [STR] and [QCK], and Knuckle Ensign Navy HQ, who can change all [QCK] slots to [STR], will help in the fight against Nero and his [STR] slot-rate reduction. We also put in Calgara Great Shandia Warrior for his STR expertise, and the key to obtaining victory, Miss Goldenweek Colors Trap: Calming Green. With Miss Goldenweek’s Special, we can reduce the enemies’ defense by half for two turns, and if we set our slots up nicely with our other crew members’ Specials, expect a quick and easy win ahead!

Charging up for the Boss Battle!

To clear this quest we want to do everything it takes to save our Specials for Battle 7, but by all means, use them before then if it means life or death! Don’t underestimate the Treasure Turtles either as they can deal over 1000 damage! Keep your eyes on your HP and proceed with caution.

Battle 1

Battle 1

Luckily for us, Nero hit us with his Fewer DEX Slots! attack, giving us just a little bit more leeway in the final battle with Wanze.

Beware of the Corporals and Majors!

The Naginata Corporal and Majors use a skill that cuts taken damage by half once their HP falls below half. The Rifle Corporal and Majors will use a skill that greatly heals themselves at the end of their first turn and every two turns after that, so they can be a bit annoying to deal with. To make matters worse, the Bazooka Corporals in Battle 4 can do a great deal of damage so it’s probably in your best interest to get rid of them before they have a chance to load their cannons!

Beware of the Corporals and Majors!

Beware of the Corporals and Majors!

Let’s go all out and take the win!

We’ve reached the galley and there he is sporting his Ra-Men’s Formal Suit, our Wanze. He definitely packs a major punch, so the key here is to take him out before he can get his nasty noodles all over you.

So we meet again!

So we meet again!

Let’s get to business! Launch Kraken Tentacle Crush and [QCK] Slot Change [STR] to change all your slots to [STR]! Don’t forget Colors Trap: Calming Green to lower Wanze’s defenses and Sky Knight Javelin to boost your top row characters’ ATK. This is your chance to hit him where it hurts! It’s best if you can get his HP to the point just before he’d use his Ramen Beam.

A bombardment of Specials!

A bombardment of Specials!

We got a little nervous and missed more taps than we had planned to, so Wanze survived. But that doesn’t mean all is lost; we got this far and victory is still in our reach!

After all, we still have a couple Specials left! We used Kid’s Steel Magnetic Arm to get his slot in place, and Great Warrior’s Spear to do a bit of extra STR damage to Wanze.

Give it your all!

Give it your all!

We did well with our tap-timing this turn and landed our Perfects. Wanze didn’t stand a chance!

Ramen sounds good right about now

Unfortunately, we couldn’t recruit Wanze this time. But we did get Nero and a new title, Mad!!

There are other crews you might be able to put together besides this one that could potentially lead you to victory. Try Monkey D. Luffy Gear Third as both Captain and Friend Captain as they’ll boost the ATK of your crew no matter the Type. Then experiment with other characters and see what works best for you!
